Easter Egg Hunt, 3.8.08

Logan College held its Easter egg hunt for the kiddies today. It was actually a very impressive event. There was a special egg hunt just for two-year olds, a petting zoo, fire trucks, and an Easter bunny flown in by helicopter! The only downfall was the bitter cold. We spent some of the time indoors or warming up in the van.

Allen did a great job collecting Easter eggs. It was a little slow going at first because he wanted to open them up right away to see what was inside. He got the hang of it though...until he fell down in the snow and started crying. :) Daddy broke the rules and went in the 'hunting zone' to help him.

Allen found an egg with a slip of paper telling him he'd won a prize. It ended up being a bag full of toddler goodies including an Elmo kite, play dough, color crayons, a jumbo coloring book, and some candy.

The rest of the eggs were filled with not-so-toddler friendly treats including small choking-hazardous toys, gum, and hard candies. I thought it was funny since they knew that two-year olds would be picking up the eggs...but hey, everything else was near perfect.

This is the helicopter the Easter bunny arrived on. The camera battery light came on and so we turned off the camera to save enough power for egg hunt photos before we got a picture of the bunny. Allen got a kick out of seeing a helicopter land so close. He usually points them out in the sky, sometimes before we see them.

For some reason he really liked this Bee. Maybe it's because he recently saw Bee Movie?

The petting zoo was probably Allen's favorite part of the day. He was brave enough to touch all of the animals as long as mommy or daddy was real close by.

And he tried to squeeze the bunny...several times. Can you blame him? That bunny was very soft and warm. :)
