Weeks before her birthday all Esmé talked about was a pink cake. She wanted a "big pink cake!" I was a little worried about delivering that wish. I'm trying to bake all goods diary, egg, soy and wheat free so that everyone in our house can enjoy them. The substitutions can be a little tricky and difficult to work with. Luckily, her cake turned out beautiful and delicious....and I learned a lot. Her smile said it all:
Daddy brought her pink roses. It made her day!

Grandpa Allen and Grandma Eileen, Auntie Heidi and Grandpa Mark joined us for the occasion.
The Hellowell's and their lovely daughters joined us as well.
Brig made Esmé 3 cards and was overanxious to give them to her.
Much to her brother's delight she gasped, ooooh'd and ahhhh'd, at each card. :)
By the end of the evening she was in true 3-year old form....cranky, tired and too upset to hug anyone goodbye. :)
A few fun facts about Esmé:
She's still attached to her "pink-sippy-panky" (pink silky blanky).
She uses the word "my" incorrectly. "Is my going too?"
She's affectionately known as the "Little Momma" because she bosses her brothers around.
She's obsessed with the color pink.
Her favorite movies are Sleeping Beauty and The Sound of Music.
We put a baby-gate at her door when she naps or she will escape but she insists its to keep her brothers out.
She loves almond milk so much we have to limit her consumption.
She enjoys being naked and we've nearly given up on trying to re-clothe her.
She likes to do everything herself.
She enjoys having her hair done but usually rips out the rubber band or clip within 5 minutes.
Lastly, instead of saying, "excuse me" she says, "beep-beep." It makes for some adorable sentences.
