Camping - Part 2

We spent the afternoon of our second day of camping at Rialto beach.  After a lot of swimming and chasing waves we were all relaxing and visiting when a giant bubble flew by...

Lo and behold we were just downwind from a gentleman doing this:

Lucky day! The children were thrilled.

 Watching the bubbles pop was fascinating.  It appeared to happen in slow motion. 

The adults had just as much fun popping bubbles.

Back at the campsite we had a tasty meal and then celebrated Esmé's upcoming birthday.

 

 Esmé was so excited about her cake.  She kept saying, "I yike cake!"

 

 So fun to have cousins (and silly Uncles) to celebrate with.

 Grandma and Grandpa both spoiled her with My Little Pony horses.  She was in heaven.  

After cake we headed back to the beach for a bonfire.

 The children helped gather logs for Grandpa and the Uncles to make a killer blaze. 

Unfortunately Uncle Danny lost his keys and we spent some time searching for them.  Eventually they were found... in the fire.  They were a bit melted but still functional.

 Esmé and Brig slept through the entire evening in the pack-n-play.

 The next morning we visited and took photos before breaking camp.

After we broke camp and said goodbye to half the family we headed over to La Push to fly kites and play in the sand before the long drive home.

 Sweet girls taking solace from the wind.  We sat in the car and watched for a while.

This was a fabulous camping trip.  It was a lot of work (packing, driving, caring for small children in the wild, etc) but sooooo worth the effort.  

It was also really great to spend time with our extended family.  I'm so glad that most of us are here in the Northwest where we can get together and make memories like this.
